A couple Republicans I can truly respect

I apologize for my absense, but there is much to get to.

I used to have a strong opinion that most if not all Republicans in office or positions of power are idiots. Luckily I'm being proven wrong as the more intelligent members of the GOP start finding their way out, and they bring with them not hate, but ideas, real ideas that work and are willing to agree to disagree with others. Two I want to focus on are Michael Steele and Meghan McCain.

Michael Steele is not the idiot the liberal media has made him out to be. He is fiscally conservative genius. He knew how to bring the RNC house in fiscal order, and unfortunately this radical change was enough for him to be voted out as RNC chair after only 2 years. He is a breath of fresh air to the GOP, unfortunately he was too radical in the eyes of the GOP establishment. I'll let you watch the above videos when Rachel Maddow interviewed him to decide for himself

Next up is Meghan McCain, who I think is the future of the Republican party as someone who actually gets what is going on and isn't afraid to be different than the rest of the party. I hope she leads the resurgence of young and independently minded Republicans to take back the party from the far right nut jobs of the Tea Party. She is brilliant and I have great hope in her for the future. Again, check out the videos for your own opinion.

  1. You continue to badmouth the tea party. I want you to tell me what is wrong with wanting to adhere to the Constitution and practicing fiscal discipline. Tell me what the problem is.... I'm quite curious...

  4. You don't think Palin is way out there in right field?

  5. Well, I certainly don't consider Ms Palin to be any further right than Obama or Pelosi is on the left.

Besides, as a country we should be moving back towards the right. We're on our way towards completely abandoning liberty and self-responsibility, though many of us do not recognize this because we don't have the proper perspective. The recent American generations were simply handed freedom and prosperity, and thus take it for granted. The result is that we are witnessing our freedom and prosperity slowly but surely disappear, inch by inch. This can be blamed squarely on "centrism", which in this country means moving left, which means more government. We've had far too much bipartisanship when it comes creating our unsustainable welfare-warfare state, abandoning liberty, destroying the dollar, etc.

Collectivism is a lie. We are not all in this together. Nobody really cares about my problems or yours. The government doesn't give two damp shits about you or anyone else... beyond securing your vote, of course. Someone I've never even met should certainly not be considered my responsibility, financial or otherwise, nor is the government an effective solution for assisting persons in need. As i said before, Individual Liberty is THE most valuable thing we can have.

I immediately gravitated towards the Tea Parties when they first popped up. I don't see Sarah Palin as representing me, though I think she would more so than Pelosi. The Gov't Media likes propping Palin up because she is a polarizing figure.

If any politican can truly be considered a leader of the tea party movement, it would be Ron Paul. The Gov't Media (including FOX) doesn't give Ron Paul much real attention because he'll make all other guys look like the idiot low-lives they are. Like him or not, Dr Paul is our most principled and honest politician. I highly suggest youtubing footage of him during the '08 Republican debates... he embarrassed the lot of those chumps.

  6. Unfortunately for the Tea Party, it was hijacked by the likes of Palin and Glenn Beck and have tainted it's image. I believe the pure Ron Paul Tea Party is a good movement, while I don't agree with all of its view points, I however can respect. The Tea Baggers, or the bandwagon people, I cannot respect because they're just Republicans who want to appear to be attached to a grassroots movement.

  7. Well given the lack of quality humans we see running around now, the "bandwagon types" will attach themselves to any and every idea, scene, movement, etc. It's not really fair to single out the Tea Party. If I were to dismiss everything simply because of some of the people representing it, I'd never be able to appreciate anything. I'd much rather have the Tea Party movement "hijacked" or led around by Palin and Beck than, say, The Military-Industrial Complex, the International Banking Cartel, or the Powers That Be in Washington (like the Rs and Ds have been)!

One thing to reflect on: Economic Liberty and Civil Liberty go hand in hand. You can't have just one or the other. And as Jefferson said, I'd much rather attend to the inconveniences of having too much liberty, rather than those that come with having not enough liberty. For some reason, Americans seem to believe that our government is different than every other gov't in the world or that has existed in history. Not so. It has grown wild with power, just as anticipated at it's inception...

  8. We here a lot of people spout off the word "freedom" as if it actually means anything to them, but i believe most Americans DON'T really enjoy freedom.

After all, freedom means allowing others to do things we're uncomfortable with- be it getting gay married or owning assault rifles. Freedom is meaningless if you begin to place limits on it.

Freedom to succeed also means the freedom to make poor decisions, and ultimately the freedom to fail. In this country, we don't allow anyone to fail, and the results we are seeing are not pretty.

  9. I have to say Swayze, while I disagree with your views, you have a very candid and intelligent way of making them known, and it's a breath of fresh air debating you knowing that it won't end up in an I'm right you're wrong type deal.
